Easy Equipment Finance

Rates & down payments

There isn't one rate. There are dozens of lenders and banks in this market, and each one prices risk differently — that's called their exposure. Because Easy Equipment Finance works across an array of financing programs, your terms are shaped by your specific situation, not a single lender's rate sheet.

What a lender actually looks at

The full breakdown of how each factor works is on the ABC's of Financing page. In short:

Industry & equipment type

Every industry — and often the specific equipment — is assigned its own risk score. Lower risk means better rates and terms; higher risk can mean a higher rate or a down payment requirement.

Personal credit score

Below roughly 650, expect a down payment to be requested — especially in trucking. In favorable industries like construction, $0-down approval is realistic with a 630+ score.

Time in business

Start-ups almost always require a down payment. Established businesses have access to more programs and, generally, better terms.

Borrowing history (“comp credit”)

Whether you've financed commercial equipment before, and how that went, factors into the underwriter's decision.

Start-up financing

Starting a business and need to finance equipment? A down payment will be required — how much depends on your credit.

The better your credit, the less money down. Underwriters typically want additional documentation for start-ups: personal bank statements are usually fine for a brand-new business, while businesses under two years old are often asked for business bank statements. Depending on the underwriter, two years of tax returns may also be requested.

About 30% of businesses close within three years, which is a large part of why start-ups are underwritten more conservatively.
